It’s July! For many that means fireworks, camp, and long lazy days. But for Seminary teachers (and nerdy students) it’s a time to prepare and start thinking about Scripture Mastery. There have been some changes, so technically it’s Doctrinal Mastery now, but the idea of mastering 25 scripture verses each year remains the same.
If you’re looking for a creative way to get your seminary students excited over doctrinal mastery, check out my doctrinal mastery candy labels, 25% off on Etsy through the beginning of September!
I graduated from Seminary this year, which means no going back this fall. My sophomore year is the year I fell in love with Scripture Mastery, which means I missed out on doing it for the New Testament. I did learn a few verses that year, mostly those which I was already familiar with, but I didn’t get into the whole program, which I really regret now.
So even though I’m technically done with Seminary, I’m going to be working on New Testament Doctrinal Mastery this year to make up for the missed opportunities from my Freshman year. To make the journey fun, I have posters! I’ll be releasing more materials in the coming weeks, but to start with I have some simple posters that are easy to print and stick almost anywhere! Each poster includes the entire text of the passage in a sans-serif font, with a main phrase from the scripture across the top in a beautiful cursive script font.
These posters are great to have around during the Summer. In your bedroom, on a mirror, in your journal, on the fridge — I’ve even heard stories on sticking laminated posters in the shower. Be creative! You could even pick one to ponderize each week! The posters are black and white, which means you can print them on colored paper, or you could take notes and doodle in the margins. There are lots of possibilities!
