Memorize two of your favorite hymns from the hymnbook. Learn the correct conducting pattern for the hymns (see Hymns, 383–85) and then conduct them at least two times at a family home evening, in a Young Women or other Church meeting, or at seminary. Read the scriptures listed at the bottom of each hymn.
Go to the ward musical chairman in your ward if you need help. They’ll be more than happy to show you the basic conducting patterns and point you to more resources for learning.
Do this for a mutual activity! Have a young woman who knows how to lead teach each of the girls. Then take turns leading your favorite hymns to each other. Take turns picking out favorite hymns and reading the scriptures listed at the bottom. Over the next months, have girls who participated in the activity pick and lead opening and closing songs.
